Massage Therapy in Bloomington, Edina, Eden Prairie, Minneapolis MN
Advacare Massage Therapy
We have had a long history of providing exceptional massage therapy since I first opened Bloomington Therapeutic massage back in 1991. Over the years we’ve evolved and integrated our practice along with the massage and health care field.
There are many types of massage techniques but our expertise is to deal with different forms of deep tissue, myofascial release and adhesion and scar tissue release. We still offer relaxation type massage and here is a breakdown of the main types of massage for your knowledge.
Common Types of Massage Therapy
Swedish: The most common type of massage, to relax and energize you.
Deep tissue: For muscle damage from an injury, such as whiplash or back strain.
Sports: To help prevent athletic injury, keep the body flexible and help recovery.
Vacuum massage cupping: To improve circulation, condition fascia and break up scar tissue.
Massage can be integrated with our other therapeutic services to make a real difference in the many health concerns, including the following conditions:
Low-back Pain - Back pain is a common neurological ailment in the U.S. Research shows that massage therapy can help decrease pain, reduce disability and lower anxiety/depression in low-back pain sufferers.
Fibromyalgia - Studies indicate massage therapy can be a beneficial part of an integrative treatment plan for those with fibromyalgia syndrome by reducing pain, improving quality of life and decreasing anxiety, stiffness, fatigue and more.
Post-operative Pain - Post-operative pain can complicate recovery, lengthen hospital stays and interfere with a patient’s return to activities. Recent research indicates massage therapy can be effective for reducing pain intensity/severity and anxiety in patients undergoing surgical procedures.
Tension Headaches - According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, tension-type headache is the most common type of headache. Research has shown massage therapy can decrease perceived pain, frequency, duration and intensity for those dealing with tension headaches.
Arthritis - Research indicates that 60 minute sessions of Swedish massage once a week for those with osteoarthritis of the knee significantly reduced their pain. In addition, research shows that massage therapy can decrease pain and significantly impact some rheumatoid arthritis patient’s ability to control the mobility of their limbs
According to the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) Consumer Survey, 72 percent of individuals surveyed claim their primary reason for receiving a massage in the previous 12 months was medical (43 percent) or stress (29 percent).
A growing body of research supports the health benefits of massage therapy for conditions such as stress, fibromyalgia, low-back pain and more. Find out how you can benefit from adding massage therapy to your health and wellness routine.
